Our Story

The Navayan Buddhist Society and the John Peta Youth Association are run by the same Executive Team from John Peta village. John Peta Village is home to these community development organizations. Navayan Buddhist Society is building and maintaining Ambedkar Knowledge Centres and Prabuddha Cultural Centers to promote Buddhism and uplift Dalits and Bahujans.

Gautama Buddha, Dr Ambedkar, Periyar and Jyotirao Phule were some of the influencers of the Navayan Buddhist Society. The Ambedkar Knowledge Center’s educational events, Mentnorhisps, Technical and Personality Development courses promote quality education, leadership skills, and employment for Dalits and minorities. Additionally, we help youth gain insight and knowledge into Social & Development issues.

Our main focus is to become a Dalit Youth support group that develops a critical understanding of issues such as Caste, Gender, Race, Class, etc. Navayan Buddhist Society derives its ideological path from the anti-caste and pro-people ideology of democratic movements which were uncompromisingly led by Dr B. R. Ambedkar, Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, Periyar, and other leaders of different marginalized groups.

Our inspiration originates from the Black movement and indigenous communities around the world, who have fought for basic human rights and civil liberties. Those were Angela Davis, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Marcus Garvey, and so on. They commit us toward propagation of a Scientific Temper, pro-people, anti-caste, anti-racist, and gender just culture.

Our VISION

By integrating the philosophy of Buddha and Dr Ambedkar, the aim is to become a centre for Dalit Right Movements, Community Upliftment, Creating Self-Employment Opportunities, and promoting scientific temper among Dalit Youth through education and experience.

In order to offer continuous benefits to its members, Navayan Buddhist Society hopes to establish relationships with non-government organizations, private foundations, Dalit movement activists, Dalit communities, state and public institutions, and private companies.

Our Mission

Protecting Our Rights

The Basic Human rights of Dailt’s in India are violated on a daily basis. We help Dalit and Minority communities defend their rights by providing:

  • Information on the legal status of Dalit and Minority rights based on current laws in India.
  • An action plan for how to respond to Human rights violations on Dalit’s and Minorities across the country.

Our History

John Peta Youth Association was founded by Mr Vijay Kumar V, a distinguished human rights activist and technocrat. He founded the organization in 2014 to offer technical skills to John Peta Youth. Afterwards, the John Peta youth association organized several village development programmes and fought for social and economic issues for the villagers.
